Information for Parents and Caregivers...

Parents and other caregivers are key players in the treatment of their children. They serve many roles and functions, including (but certainly not limited to) helping to identify that there is a problem, seeking appropriate evaluation and treatment, providing information essential to accurate evaluation, encouraging their child to engage in treatment, and engaging in the child's treatment themselves by helping to modify the home and social environments, as well as facilitating and structuring the practice of new skills learned in treatment. And on and on and on...

Another key way that parents can help in the treatment of their child is by respecting the limits of confidentiality that are agreed upon. Certainly, the amount of information shared between a child's therapist and parents will vary based on the age of the child, the type of problem being addressed, the nature of the relationship between the parent and child, and other circumstances.

I look forward to partnering with you to help your child achieve the good health and well being that every child deserves.
